NEW DELHI: Underlining the Centre's initiative for resolving the imbroglio affecting Manipur, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Thursday while assuring the Lok Sabha that the territorial integrity of the State would not be affected, offered to hold talks with the agitated Naga groups and amend the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the situation arising out of the economic blockade imposed by the Naga organisations on the National Highways Nos.39 and 53 in Manipur, the Home Minister said, "The Ministries concerned are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and will take necessary steps to maintain adequate stocks of food grains, POL and other essential commodities in Manipur."

Amid demands for scrapping of the controversial AFSPA, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said his ministry has proposed amendments to it but these could be effected only after consultations with all concerned.
