Thousands of people take roads in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, 15 December 2011 - In protest of the Namoni Sowansiri Big River Dam thousands of protesters from all over Assam take road.Kishok Mukti Sangram Samiti along with TMPK, Tai Ahom Satra Santha, Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Satra Parisad and almost every noted organisation of Assam take part in this protest.

During the conversation,  KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said, "This will be a grand success,as  thousands of people of Assam are coming out. Government should not take the path violence upon the protesters as it is a non-violence movement .Iwand to draw the attention of the Assam Government to the fact that we shall not get any royalty from Namoni Sowansiri Project. "In a question asked whether the political parties are supporting the movement Gogoi answered, "Till now I get support from the A.G.P, B.J.P. and though the Congress Party hesitates to openly support it yet they promise representatives from each Assembly Seat. Local M.L.A. Utpol Dutta assures almost 10 thousand protesters to be present ."

Further Akhil Gogoi requested all the intellectualists to co-operate the movement and come out for the security of the lives of the region,its ecosystem and its biological stability. According to sources more than 150 persons from Guwahati and many people from Udalguri, Golaghat etc every district have joined the movement. As an administrative measure great numbers of defense personals are deployed at the ground of protest. The protesters will not allow any N.H.P.C. related vehicle pass the road carring any equipment.
