Sushma Swaraj’s June Dhaka visit: India keeps the momentum of friendly relations with Bangladesh

Guwahati, July 24 (by Dr Rupak Bhattacharjee) India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Dhaka on June 25-27 along with Foreign Secretary Sujata Singh. This was Swaraj’s first stand-alone foreign trip following taking over the charge of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Modi’s recent Bhutan visit: India reaffirms its ties with the closest regional ally

Guwahati, July 13 (By Dr Rupak Bhattacharjee): The foreign policy observers have hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent Bhutan visit as timely and fruitful given India’s stakes in the strategically located tiny nation. Modi visited the Himalayan kingdom on June 15-16 at the invitation of Bhutanese king and prime minister. This was his maiden foreign trip following the assumption of power aiming at further consolidating the existing close and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries.

PA Sangma meets family of police torture victim

Shillong, July 6 (Syeda Ambia Zahan): Shri. Purno A Sangma Hon'ble MP Tura had visited the family and parents of Late Balsan S Marak who died in Police Judicial custody due to alleged police torture inside the Police Lock up few weeks ago in Tura. P A Sangma who was also accompanied by Shri. Thomas A Sangma former MP Rajya Sabha, was apprised by the family members of Late Balsan S Marak that till date no compensation has been given to them from the Government of Meghalaya.

Summer adventure camp kickstarts in Guwahati‏

Guwahati, 4th July (By Syeda Ambia Zahan): The Explorers club has organized a three day- long Summer Adventure camp in the city in collaboration with Assam Tourism Development Corporation kick started from today.

Explorers Club is one of the oldest Mountaineering and Adventure clubs of Assam and North East.

Madhav Nath Instructor of Explorers Club said “With the objective to develop the popularity of adventure sports in North East we have come up with this initiative. We want to motivate and encourage youngsters who are really interested in adventure sports”.

Power shortage in Meghalaya: former minister draws Govt. attention

Tura, July 4 (By Syeda Ambia Zahan): Former Meghalaya finance minister, Conrad Sangma has apprised Minister of state with independent charge for power, coal and new and renewable energy, Piyush Goyal on the acute shortage of power in the state by suggesting "remedies" for harnessing energy.
