Guwahati June 3: itsmynortheast.com, northeast India’s first dedicated cultural and positive human interest story based site was launched today in a function at the Guwahati press club. The site is the brainchild of former journalist and a student of the Gauhati University, Rupkamal Sarma. Explaining the concept and objective of the site, Sarma said, “I wanted to present the ‘other side’ of the story of Northeast India.
New Delhi, 28 Feb 2011: The Centre for Civil Society, through its Livelihood Freedom Campaign-Jeevika, develops public policy measures to clear the path for free enterprise. This campaign is based on the principle that the quality of life is intrinsically related to the degree of livelihood and economic freedom. Jeevika aims to shift the terms of public debate in favor of deregulation of exit and entry barriers for pursuit of an honest livelihood, through a combination of research, advocacy and outreach activities.
New Delhi, 18 Jan 2011: The Centre for Civil Society is organising the C Rajagopalchari Essay Competition 2011. The competition is an effort towards inviting perspectives from the youth of India on liberty-personal, political, and economic, through the thought-provoking topic ‘How Free are You’.
The event is being organised in association with the International Policy Network, London; Bangalore Management Academy; Centre for Public Policy Research; Liberal Youth Forum; Prabodh; Pratigya; and the Statesman Print Journalism School.
Guwahati, 20 Dec 2010: In a press release released today All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) raised Gorkha Autonomous Council (GAC) as basic and fundamental demand despite the formation of Gorkha Development Council (GDC). The release also says that AAGSU supports neat and clean upgradation of NRC, expert committee’s advisory on Mega Dams and decries its fraction’s conference at Godmara in Dekhiajuli.
