Sculptural Heriatge of Assam
The earliest known stone sculpture of Assam belongs to the Gupta period, the best evidence of which is to be found in the Ganga and Yamuna images on the temple door-frame (5th/6th century A.D) at Da-Parbatiya, Tezpur.
Tradition of Paintings
The traditional of paintings in Assam can be traced back to several centuries in the past. The gifts presented to Hiuen-Tsang and Harshavardhana by Kumar Bhaskara, the king of Kamrupa, included a number of paintings and painted objects, some done on exclusive Assam Silk.

Myths and Legends
Krishna Rukmini
Lord Krishna frequently appears in mythology of ancient Assam. In the Bhagabata there was a king named Vhismaka who ruled in Vidarbha. According to the popular tradition in Assam the kingdom of Vidarleha was located in Assam around Sadia, where Vhismaka's capital called Kundina was situated. The name Kundina still survives in the Kundil river at Sadia.
